Substance Abuse Print
5x7 art print of my painting Substance Abuse. Each print comes with a description card in a protective sleeve.
This painting explores the devastating cycle of substance abuse and the silent suffering it leaves behind. The broken-open mind symbolizes a person whose thoughts have been shattered by addiction, while the bottles continuously pouring into it represent the endless cycle of using alcohol to numb the emotional pain. The pills scattered throughout reflect how addiction can consume every part of life, regardless of the substance. The duct tape covering the mouth symbolizes the silence that often surrounds addiction--the inability to ask for help, speak the truth, or express the pain hidden beneath the surface. Behind every addiction is a struggle that often goes unseen. This piece is about the weight of that battle, the suffering it brings, and the quiet hope that even the deepest wounds can one day begin to heal.
