This painting is from my Zodiac series, where I reimagined each zodiac sign as a unique skull-and-bones composition inspired by its symbolism and element. Every sign features its own distinct skeletal form set against a background representing its elemental nature.

Representing the water sign, Cancer, this piece features a human skull resting on a stone while a vibrant red hermit crab makes its home within it. The crab reflects Cancer's protective nature and the way those born under this sign often carry their emotions beneath a strong outer shell. The flowing blue and violet background represents the water element, evoking intuition, emotion, and the ever-changing tides that define Cancer's spirit. By blending skeletal imagery with the symbolism of the crab, this painting explores the ideas of vulnerability, resilience, and finding comfort even in life's most unexpected places.
